The government has informed the Budapest Festival Orchestra that it will provide Ft 200 million less to the ensemble next year, forcing the orchestra to cancel some performances and tours planned for 2020.

The idea of a complex Jewish cultural center sprang from the founder of Hungary’s internationally acclaimed Golem Theater, András Borgula. Golem Theater – the only professional Jewish theater company in Hungary – was founded back in 2005 by Borgula who has been the artistic director since then.

The goal of the Ludwig 30 series of contemporary events is said to be, "To introduce an institution that remains open and diversified, one that takes initiative and is ready for renewal in the 21st century".
Festival Of Folk Arts, Buda Castle, 17 – 20 August

The festival, which evokes the ambiance of old-time fairs, is the year's long-expected family event where one can try folk crafts and admire the splendid artwork of craftsmen, the organisers told XpatLoop.
